Buckingham Palace has announced the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral Castle on Thursday 8 September 2022.

The Parish Council and the people of Hook Norton are deeply saddened to hear the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll.

Our thoughts are with the Royal Family and we will remember with affection and gratitude the lifetime of remarkable service given by our longest-reigning monarch. She demonstrated extraordinary dedication and commitment to her duty and her country, the Commonwealth and beyond.

It is confirmed that a Book of Condolence has been opened at St Peter's Church and will be accessible from 8pm tonight for those who wish to pay their respects. A National Condolence Online Book is also available to sign at www.royal.uk

St Peter's Church will also be open all night tonight and from 8am-10pm until Sunday for any members of the parish who wish to pray or to pause and reflect.

The Memorial Hall gardens are open for those who wish to pay their respects by laying flowers. We are sure that people across the village will join us at this time in paying their respects and remembering her many years of service to the country.

May she rest in peace.
